Virtual Eye - August 2014

Virtual Eye Cricket were in Sri Lanka for all of August, covering the 2 five-day Tests and 3 ODI matches against visitors Pakistan. In contrast, the Virtual Eye Golf crew covered the US PGA Championship in Kentucky, the 'Made In Denmark' in Aalborg, the Czech Masters in Vysoky Ujezd and the Italian Open in Fiano.

After a 2 week hiatus the Formula 1 season continued, and Virtual Eye Motorsport were at Spa-Francorchamps for the 2014 F1 Belgian Grand Prix, supplying circuit and car graphics to broadcaster BSkyB's F1 Channel. Virtual Eye Sailing covered the 33rd Copa del Rey MAPFRE in Palma de Mallorca, the Star Class Eastern Hemisphere Championship on Lake Lucerne in Switzerland, and also attended the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race (a test event for tracking the Volvo65 yachts).

Our CEO, Ian Taylor, as a newsreader for The South Tonight in 1988. The item he's anchoring is about Computer Graphics - by the end of the following year Ian had started Animation Research Ltd (parent company of Virtual Eye).

Virtual Eye - July 2014

The first week of July saw Virtual Eye Sailing providing broadcast and streaming 3D graphics for the Star Class World Championship Malcesine on Lake Garda, Italy. Virtual Eye Golf's 2014 season was in full swing for the Open de France at Le Golf Nationale, the Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen, and the 140th Open Championship at Royal Liverpool GC. Another triple-header for the month was Virtual Eye Motorsport, providing F1 graphics for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the Grosser Preis Von Deutshland at Hockenheim and the Hungarian Grand Prix at Hungaroring.

Virtual Eye Cricket set up shop in Sri Lanka for July, covering the first of Sri Lanka's 3 ODIs against visitors South Africa on July 6 at R Premadasa Stadium, the second on July 9 at Pallekele, and the third on July 12 in Sooriyawewa, Hambantota. The team also provided live 3D graphics for the two 5-day tests on July 16-20 at the Galle International Stadium and July 24-28 at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo.

Sky Sports F1 used Virtual Eye to explain how race stewards calculate DRS (drag reduction system) zones for each circuit, using Shanghai International as an example. Hungary's Hungaroring circuit had one of it's two DRS zones shortened prior to the running of the 2014 Grand Prix on 26 July.
