In March Virtual Eye continued supporting the PGA Tour, remotely supplying our data-driven graphics to the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Florida while simultaneously providing graphics to the New Zealand Open at Millbrook Resort. The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass and the Valspar Championship at Copperhead were the next PGA tournaments we covered, followed by the WGC Dell Tech Match Play in Austin and the Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio.

At the Players Championship, LIDAR data from drones was sent to an Unreal Engine managed by Virtual Eye (ARL) to create new flyovers. "We now have a complete 3D representation of TPC Sawgrass rendered out using Unreal Engine," explained Alex Turnbull, senior director of broadcast production for the PGA TOUR. "It is absolutely beautiful as we are integrating it through ARL’s engine."
March also saw Spring Training for Major League Baseball, with Virtual Eye maintaining and updating MLB's Stacast 3D system along the way, covering the World Baseball Classic and preparing for the rollout of ABS in the Triple-A Minor League. Virtual Eye has supported The Ocean Race since the 1997-1998 Whitbread Round The World Race, and we are continuing to provide our graphics for the duration of the 2022-23 Race - Leg3 to Itajai took place during February and March 2023.
