Virtual Eye Sports
Virtual Eye, the Sports division of New Zealand based Animation Research Ltd (ARL), is a world leader in the provision of 3D TV graphics with over 25 years industry experience. This started with the sport of Sailing and the America's Cup, when Virtual Eye's graphics revolutionised the way sailing fans watched the sport.
We have grown our technology as the event has grown, and now provide services on multiple platforms. We have even won an Emmy for our America's Cup App. Our strength in sailing saw us progress into the prestigious Volvo Ocean Race event, the 52 Super Series (TP52), XCat Powerboats and Star Sailors League, to name a few.
Virtual Eye has also had the privilege of working on the major Golf events for many years, providing services for the European Golf Tour, Open Championships, Ryder Cup, US Open, New Zealand Open and, as of 2018, the PGA Tour. Consequently, our teams travel the globe providing these services year round.
We have covered Cricket since 2001, showing fielding positions, scoring information, wagon wheels, bowlers pitch maps, 3D flyins to stadia and Augmented graphics. We also revolutionised the game with the introduction of the DRS (Decision Review System) which tracks the cricket balls and gives the viewers and umpires a greater understanding and depth of information. Beginning in 2009, we also took on the high-speed world of Formula One, providing detailed 3D tracks, driving lines, acceleration, braking, gear shifts and driver G-forces. In 2018 we brought our graphics to the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 for client Fox Sports Australia.
Telling sports stories is in our blood, and over the years we have told a wide range of these from the Aerobatics Competitions, Hot Air Ballooning, Para Gliding, Hang Gliding and Gliding, through to the Extreme Sports of Snowboarding and Skiing. Most recently we have been covering the Red Bull Freeride Tour, Burton US Open, Simples Session and Snowboard Championships, as well as the UCI World Cup Mountain Bike Series 2015, Downhill and Cross-Country events and the MotorCross Hare Scramble and 2016 Hard Enduro Series.
