The Sailing World Championships began the month, with Virtual Eye Sailing supplying our tracking and graphics across the 14 days of competition between 10 Olympic sailing classes - 1100 vessels raced on Aarhus Bay, Denmark during the event. Other Sailing series we continued to supply graphics to during August were the 2018 Extreme Sailing Series event in Cardiff, and the Puerto Portals 52 Super Series Sailing Week in Spain.

Virtual Eye Golf again handled supporting multiple concurrent events on both the European Tour and the US PGA Tour - the Womens British Open Championship in the UK and the WGC Bridgestone Invitational in Ohio were the first couple on the dancefloor, followed by the Nordea Masters in Sweden paired with the Wyndham Championship in North Carolina. Rounding off the golfing month, we supplied our graphics and balltracking at the D+D Real Czech Masters in Prague and The Northern Trust in New Jersey, but incredibly - this isn't our big Golf story for August...
... during the 100th US PGA Championship at Bellerive, as golfers hit their tee shots on one side of the tv screen, Toptracer data and our Virtual 3D course appeared on the other side, giving viewers a highly accurate real-time view of where a drive is headed along the fairway. Virtual Eye returned to the US PGA Championship this year with increased coverage of more holes, providing our services both live and in playback. Our flyover animations also returned, giving a second shot perspective once the ball comes to rest, with GolfTrax providing key statistical information for both individual players and holes.

Virtual Eye - July 2018

During the Open Championship at Carnoustie the Virtual Eye tracking system played a big role in broadcast coverage, going out on BSkyB in the UK, Asahi TV in Japan and NBC in the US. Immediately following the 147th Open, three simultaneous tournaments rounded out another busy golfing month, the Porsche European Open in Hamburg, the RBC Canadian Open in Oakville and the Senior Open Championship at St Andrews. July had started with teams at concurrent events the HNA Open de France in Paris and the Quicken Loans National in Maryland. The next doubleheader for the Virtual Eye Golf operators was the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at Ballyliffin and The Greenbrier Classic at White Sulphur Springs in West Virginia - those events quickly followed by the AAM Scottish Open at Gullane GC and the John Deere Classic in Illinois.

On the Sailing calendar, both the 2018 Extreme Sailing Series and the 52 SUPER SERIES had major events in Cascais - Virtual Eye was again in attendance, supplying our tracking and graphics for both series throughout the year via broadcast, browser and mobile.
